We wrapped up our school year in July, and this week we officially began again. Normally, I am the kind of person who looks at a break and immediately starts wondering what we should fill it with. What can we go do? What can the kids experience? What project should we tackle? What can I check off the list before school starts again? But this time, we didn't. We just lived.

Homeschooling while working full time takes balance, discipline, flexibility, preparation, and a willingness to let go of what we think school is supposed to look like. Some days run beautifully. Other days involve interrupted lessons, reheated coffee, children asking questions while I am answering emails, and math being completed much later than I originally planned. But it can be done.

If I'm being honest, lately life has been... a lot. The kind of busy that slowly creeps in until one day you realize you've been surviving instead of living. I've caught myself hearing words come out of my mouth that don't sound like the mother I want to be. But the Lord gently reminded me: They are not the problem. I'm not just raising children. I'm raising souls.
